Auditor General Colin Murphy has delivered a clear annual financial report card for universities and state training providers, but identified weaknesses in basic information systems, financial and human resource controls that need to be addressed.

The Auditor General’s report also includes the results of two across government benchmarking audits on the recording, custody and disposal of portable and attractive assets, and on the control of funds held for specific purposes.

In tabling his report, Mr Murphy said that sound corporate governance and accountability were vital and he expected agencies across government to take note of the findings and act on the recommendations of the report.
