John McKechnie, QC, takes-up top CCC post

Corruption and Crime Commission

John McKechnie, QC, will take-up his five-year appointment as Western Australia’s Corruption and Crime Commissioner on Tuesday 28 April 2015. Mr McKechnie takes over leadership of the Corruption and Crime Commission (CCC) as it repositions itself for its second decade of operation, with a keen focus on serious misconduct and oversight of the Western Australia Police.

Mr McKechnie is Western Australia’s fourth Corruption and Crime Commissioner since the CCC was established in December 2003.

Acting Commissioners Christopher Shanahan, QC, and Neil Douglas, who have shared the responsibilities of the office of CCC Commissioner since the departure of former Commissioner Roger Macknay, QC, more than a year ago, will continue in their roles, supporting the new Commissioner during periods of absence from the State or as otherwise required.
